We ride more than 5,000km from Oslo to the Arctic Circle, exploring quite possibly the most beautiful country we've ever seen!

Norway has superb roads, an amazing ferry network, hundreds of perfectly engineered tunnels, and scenic landscapes to die for. It's a manicured country of picture-postcard towns and fishing villages worthy of several volumes of National Geographic.
Starts and finishes in Oslo. Approximately 5,200km of variable riding conditions and changing temperatures, can be cold in the mountains and warm on the Atlantic Coast.

We know of some tour operators who keep the whole group bunched up together like a HOG parade at Sturgis. That’s not our style at all.
Each morning we’ll show you where we’re going, how far we’re riding and where we expect to stop for lunch, fuel and sightseeing.
We use a proven corner-man system, so once we’re clear of the towns you can ride at a pace that suits you. We’ll bring everyone together through busy cities, complicated junctions and any section where it makes sense to stay close.

Our Fabulous Fjords tour is a comprehensive exploration, taking us beyond the Arctic Circle and back via stunning mountain passes and the incredible Lofoten Peninsula.
Sector 1: From Oslo to Bodø in the Arctic Circle
Heading out of the capital we quickly find ourselves entering the Valdres National Park for our first riding night's accommodation. We then climb world-famous Geiranger, first of many mountain passes, followed on the same day by possibly Norway's most reknowned hillclimb, Trollstigen.
Then comes the spectacular Atlantic Coast Road taking us further north, through gorgeous forested roads on our way to picturesque Trondheim. We have our first 'rest' day here, but you'll probably want to explore the local sights here rather than resting!
Continuing north has us crossing the Arctic Circle to the picturesque town of Bodø on the coast.
Sector 2: Narvik and the amazing Lofoten Peninsula
After visiting northern Narvik, we now come to possibly the highlight of the tour! The stunning Lofoten Peninsula is a purely magical string of islands and interconnecting bridges, with rustic red villages backdropped by huge granite mountains. A sensational ride of 300km will take us all day, just admiring the sheer beauty of the location.
We have a 'rest day' here but once again you will want to get back on the bike and explore on your own, giving your photography skills a workout. There are also several local hikes on offer if you feel like climbing a peak for a panoramic view, and believe it or not there are surfing beaches here also -- if you've never braved the waves inside the Arctic Circle before...
Sector 3: Our turnaround point, where we start heading South
We take a ferry from Lofoten back to Bodø on the mainland, and begin the return journey -- but on different roads. We'll visit the Arctic Circle Information Centre for the obligatory photograph, and discover a few more little towns we had bypassed on the way north.
Because of Norway's notoriously unreliable weather, we deliberately schedule a second visit to Geiranger and Trollstigen, to maximise our chances of a clear day. We're sure you won't mind doing them again!
We then continue across more spectacular mountain roads and more gorgeous fjords to arrive at a town which is often voted the most beautiful in the world, Bergen! We'll have a rest day here to allow you to wander and explore the stunning waterfront promenades, fish markets, restaurants, bars, the skyline gondola ...
Sector 4: Hardanger fjord, Stavanger and Lysebotn fjord
Do you like winding roads? Silly question if you ride a motorbike! After leaving Bergen we enjoy some more sensational roads in Hardangerfjord, and ride a 25km tunnel -- it's the longest road tunnel in the world, but Norway doesn't bother mentioning this.
We visit Stavanger and then come to possibly the most exciting ride of the tour, the incredible Lysevegen. With 27 hairpin bends and yet another tunnel (with a hairpin in it!) we descend into the gorgeous Lysebotn fjord. Alas, the road ends here so there's no option but to ride it back up to the top again...
And our tour comes to a close, as we wind our way back to Oslo.

Our Fabulous Fjords tour starts and finishes in Oslo, climbing through National Parks and very scenic mountains, vie Trondheim to the Arctic Circle. We ride the Lofoten Peninsula before looping south on mostly different roads, to discover such beautiful towns such as Bergen and Stavanger. We also ride the little-known but sensational mountain road to Lysebotn before returning to Oslo.

Will this ride suit you?
A full and unrestricted motorcycle licence is required.
You also need enough experience to handle a large-capacity bike on unfamiliar roads.
And of course, we must insist that you take out a comprehensive travel insurance policy which adequately covers motorcycling!
The Fabulous Fjords of Norway tour suits competent riders who are comfortable with:
Riding days of up to approximately 380km
Mountain bends and tight switchbacks
An occasional busy town and unfamiliar traffic
Changing road surfaces and weather
Cooler mountain conditions and hotter days along the coast
Following daily directions and the corner-marking system
Making sensible decisions about their own pace
You’ll also need a reasonable level of health, fitness and stamina. Some riding days are quite long at 400km, and the cold can be challenging in the mountains.
Solo riders, couples and pillions are welcome.

Our Fabulous Fjords tour is a recent addition to our portfolio and we've run it for the past 4 years.
We still make changes when we find a better road, a nicer hotel, scenic stop, or motorcycle option. The route you ride today has been shaped by our personal experience of running the tour, not by just drawing a convenient line between Norway's most famous places.
Mike Ferris has more than 30 years of experience in organising and leading our international motorcycle tours and will personally lead this departure. He is also a qualified motorcycle riding instructor, recognised and accredited by the New South Wales government in Australia. This depth of experience matters when the group reaches a difficult town, the weather turns, a motorcycle needs attention, or the day’s original plan simply no longer makes sense.
The part you won’t see on the map
Ask riders what stays with them and you’ll hear everything from the switchbacks of the mountain passes, to the coastal islands of Lofoten, or the countless ferries and tunnels. Then somebody mentions the group members.
Three weeks on the road has a way of turning solo riders, couples and oft-returning World On Wheels clients into firm friends who are still swapping stories long after the bikes have gone back.
